Ipsy August 2013

photo(40)It’s that time of the month, spices! My Ipsy arrived about a week ago and I’ve been pushing back this post for quite a while but I know there are a lot of curious people out there who want to know what some people got versus others, so here it goes!

image(82)This month’s glam bag was called Glamour Academy which is definitely an ode to back to school.  The bag itself is small but it’s very thick and sturdy.  I don’t know what I am going to do with all these bags but I re ally like this purple one, so I will probably use it to store some jewelry.

image(84)Chella, Dazzling Dark Brown Eyebrow Color: I’ve had Chella in my bag and I did enjoy the pencil I got last time too.  I was excited to see this thin pencil in my bag.  I regularly thread my eyebrows and I find I always get compliments on my eyebrows, so this is a great way to make them even bolder.  The color is bold and the pencil itself is really thin, allowing you to layer on as much or as little as you want.  I found that it was also extremely easy to make a straight line.  I tried to smudge it on my hand and it stayed put which is a plus because no one wants to accidentally wipe off an eyebrow.

image(86)Michael Todd, Jojoba Charcoal Face Scrub: I’ve never heard of Michael Todd before so this was something exciting to try.  I have dry skin and I am always obsessed over trying new scrubs or facial cleaners.  I squeezed some into my fingertips and I don’t know why–but I was surprised by the really dark navy blue color.  What also caught me off-gaurd was the little shimmers in it.  I wet my face and used my fingers tips to spread the scrub in circular motions around my face.  I washed it off and pat my face dry.  It smells extremely good–fruity and it left my skin soft.  I would recommend applying a moisturizer after.

image(87)Pixi, Lash Booster Mascara:  I wasn’t expecting mascara in my bag but I welcomed it with open arms.  I began applying some onto my lashes, only to get a huge bit on my nose due to clumsiness.  I already have extremely long lashes so I don’t know if it really helped to extend it but it wasn’t bad.  I wouldn’t buy it, I’ll stick to the ones I already have.

image(88)Noya, Cherry Lip Balm: I’ve heard of Noya but I have never bought any of their products.  I adored the packaging.  It looked very refreshing so I eagerly took it out of the box and applied some to my chapped lips.  It didn’t wow me.  It’s just chap stick, nothing really special about it.  It is exactly like any other cherry chapstick though I applaud them for being Kosher.

image(89)PACIFICA Natural Skincare, Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream: I love this little bottle, I think all the colors and little flower are super cute.  I was a little wary about trying this since I am still using my Boscia BB Cream but I decided to give this a go.  I love it.  It literally blended into my skin tone and looked like I was wearing literally nothing.  It offered a little radiance to my skin as well.  I will be using this whole bottle and maybe buying some for the fall/ winter season.

What did you get in your Ipsy Glam Bag? Have you tried any of these products before?

Thanks for reading!

  1. Dylan,
Looks like you got a great bag this month, I would love it if you did a review or just share your thoughts about the Michael Todd product. Also I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but it’s taking almost 12 hours or so for your posts to be coming up on my dashboard, and I don;t know if that just a wp glitch or whatever, but I just though it would be something worth brining to your attention.

Really!?It might be because I have switched to self hosted but I will alert wordpress and ask them about it. Sure! If you want I will put it in a separate post so you will better see it.

  2. I kind of want to try out that eyebrow pencil. I have very thin brows and I’m always looking for tips on how to do them.

I don’t have thin eyebrows but I will definitely put up a post on how I use the eyebrow pencil. This pencil is really good because the point is thin so it will work great for your thin eyebrows.
