One Door Closes..One Opens

photo 3(18)My journey as an Ann Taylor intern has come to an end.  It had gone too fast but like it is always said, all good things must come to an end.  This internship has reinforced my notion of what career I truly want to go into. I know for a fact I want to go into social media marketing; I mean, how is that not fun?I’ve met some amazing people at the company and I’ve learned so much.  I wish I could have stayed longer but a girl needs money; especially a shopaholic like me.  Wait until my next blog post, I’ll show you all my recent purchases and products I’m obsessing over.

More into my internship.  I was a Brand Marketing/ Social Media Intern.  I helped with Instagram. A lot.  We had legit photoshoots and obviously it was some hard work but it’s amazing to see all your work get seen by tons of people.  I still feel proud seeing those photos on Instagram get tons of likes and comments.

Here are a few that I had a hand at (with many more coming out in the future):

jewelry-armI personally styled those bracelets. Makes me feel a bit special knowing I had input. It really made me nervous but I stuck to my gut feeling a lot and I think it worked out! Don’t be afraid of constructive criticism.

Anyways, I didn’t want to stand idly by after the end of my internship so I went to an open interview at one of my favorite stores, Anthropologie.  I got a seasonal position and I am going to make it my goal to stay permanently after the season is up. I just hope I can make a good impression but if anything I know very well that when one door closes…one opens.

  1. Your internship sounds like it was such a great opportunity! How did you get it? Did you like the culture there? I’m a sophomore in college looking for an internship this summer in advertising or social media and could use some advice with the search.

I’ve found most of my internships through http://www.internqueen.com. There you will find a variety of internships ranging from fashion to business. I loved the culture at ANN INC. There was never any drama and everyone was nice to each other. It was like a huge family. I applied, got the interview, and an hour after the interview I got the internship. I think it was my portfolio that really helped me stand out so for sure keep a portfolio of your work and make sure your resume is down to one page. If you want any advice feel free to email me! I don’t mind helping at all! You can email me at dylano27@msn.com
