Back to the Daily Grind

I once find myself in frigid, less than desirable temperatures. I have returned to the Northeast..and I did not miss it. I came back to Jersey when the sky decided to drop some snow and rain onto us.

I didn’t do anything overly exciting on vacation other than spend some much needed family time with my aunts, uncles, and grandmother. I tried to tan a little but it didn’t work,no matter how long I stayed out in the sunshine, my skin was too resilient. I did manage to go to a few thrift shops but only found a tan cardigan for $6. I begin school tomorrow once again and Wednesday I find myself with several internship interviews (Fingers crossed)!

Like I promised, I will do a giveaway by the end of this week or next. I am deciding what items I should do and I was wondering what you guys would like! Nothing too expensive but nothing too cheap either! For now, I will continue to roam the imaginary aisles of before I make my trudge there this weekend.

Beau Review: “Clean on Me” by Soap & Glory

If you’ve been looking for a great, new shower gel, you must try Soap & Glory’s “Clean on Me”. I purchased mine at Sephora for $16. I bought the 16.2 oz one, so it is about a dollar for each ounce. It is totally worth it.

A little goes a long way. I bought this back in January and you can see I nearly have all of it left. No, I am not dirty, I shower daily. My mother even uses it, so you can see that you do not need as much of the product to produce the luxurious lather you crave. The gel has a soft, gentle scent of florals and a hint of orange.

I have extremely dry skin and I have little bumps on my arms that I contribute to my sensitivity to fabrics and allergies. This gel smoothed and moisturized my skin while relieving some of the irritation. I use it every day and every time I shower. I was always a Dove girl but this product leaves a light scent once I get out of the shower and makes my skin silky smooth.

I cannot get enough of it and I will probably have it for up to the next 6 months or longer. It’s worth the price and if you are wanting to derail from your usual store-bought brand.

From what I’ve seen in this product, it makes me want to try out some other Soap & Glory products. I will try to see if I can buy a few and even do a Soap & Glory giveaway. Tell me what you think of that! I would love to hear more about their products so if you have used this or others, please comment below, whether it is positive or negative!

Spring Break Essentials

Spring Break Essentials

Winter is still hanging out with no intention to leave without throwing more unexpected snow or cold wind on us. If you are a college student in the North-East or have semesters then you know spring break is around the corner! We all struggle to stuff our closet into our teeny-weeny suitcase, and sadly, you can’t take it all.

As a girl whose had the opportunity to go to Florida every year around Christmas and summertime due to family living there, I can help offer some advice on traveling essentials! Those who have booked their tickets are most likely going to tropical places such as Florida, Cancun, Mexico, Bahamas, etc.

Here is the what you need in your suitcase:

  • Basic shirts (white and black): It’s easier to have basics as you can pair them with anything and dress them up or down. Pair them with a great floral denim or short-shorts and you have a cute, comfortable outfit
  • Sweater/Hoodie: The weather tends to get chilly and unexpected at times, as well when the sun drops and the moon appears. The best thing you can bring with you is a zip fleece hoodie to keep you warm.
  • Umbrella: Tropical areas are susceptible to lots of rain. Try to buy the mini ones that you can stash away in luggage or a purse.
  • 3 Great pairs of shoes: 1 pair of great heels/wedges, 1 pair of flip flops/sandals, and 1 pair of comfortable shoes. Spring break means parties whether it is on the beach or in a club. While many would cringe at the thought of wearing sneakers, it’s not always partying. You want to walk and actually enjoy what the area has to offer. You could also bring some cute flats or loafers.
  • Shorts: Is there really a need to explain? They could be short-shorts (denim or not), cotton, solid, prints, Bermudas, linen, etc.
  • Jeans: I’m a jean’s girl so jeans are what I most likely live in. Make sure that they are comfortable and not too restrictive as sometimes the heat can make you bloat a little.
  • Razors: Do I need to explain?
  • Sunscreen and cosmetics: Take sunscreen. Yes, everyone wants that tan..but don’t burn yourself to a crisp as it could lead to skin cancer. Take a few of your favorite cosmetics but make sure it is in your checked baggage as they only allow travel sized liquids in your carry-on.
  • A Dress: Any dress of your choosing, one you could wear casually or dress up. Don’t go crazy and take 3 or more. 1 or 2 is fine.
  • Camera and chargers: Take a camera (disposable is always good) or any camera you have along with its chargers and chargers for your phone.
  • First Aid and Feminine products: You never know when you might have an accident or mother nature will decide to drop her gift. Be prepared! Don’t forget the deodorant either!
  • A Hat: Keep cool and believe it or not you can actually burn your scalp! Bring along your favorite cap or sun hat. It will make a cute addition to an outfit as well!
  • Mosquito Repellent: Depending where you are, chances are you will cross paths with this pesky pest. Ward them away with some repellent or make your own!
  • Belts and Accessories: I usually bring a small cosmetic bag with my jewelry (fashion jewelry). It can change an outfit from casual to dressy in a snap and a belt is great to cinch your dress.
  • Bathing suit: Bring your best bathing suit or 2 if you know you’ll be spending a lot of time in it. Bikini, one-piece, etc. it’s all your choice. Bring more than 1 if you don’t want to have to wash it the day before.
  • Sunglasses: Squinting brings on crows feet and is plain annoying. Put on some smoking sunglasses and relax!
  • Towels: Hotels will supply some towels to shower in but I like to bring along my big beach towel to lie on.
  • Tote Bag: To carry all your beach essentials
  • Book or Nook: We all love reading a good book on vacation!
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste: Minty-fresh breath..really is the best (I just rhymed. Oy Vey.)
  • Extra Cash: In the world of credit cards..people tend to forget that paper money exists. Bring cash. You don’t want to be left with nothing.
  • I.D or Passport: This should be a given.
  • Tank Tops: Any color. It’s a basic!
  • Purse: Any purse you love!

I know this is a long list but it really is the essentials! You can always add whatever you feel fit but for a great vacation don’t forget these things. Hotels usually supply those mini shampoos and body gel but if you don’t want to use those, then bring your own, like I usually do. Vacations are fun but nothing is less than enjoyable when you realize you forgot your camera or some sunblock.

I hope my list helped and if you have anything you would recommend, do not hesitate to comment below and add to the list!

Beau Review: Lancome’s Rouge In Love

Lipsticks and I have a complicated relationship; I hate them one day and love them the next. I was never the type of girl to smear on some red lipstick and strut right on out of my door. On the contrary, I would be the girl who barely went out without any makeup, just a swipe of eyeliner would do. Well, let me tell you, I am no longer a lipstick virgin.

The lucky one? Lancome’s Rouge In Love. Now, all my friends know I have a massive girl crush on Emma Watson due to Harry Potter. When I heard she was the new ambassadress for Lancome I knew I had to try it.

I confidently stomped right into Nordstrom and asked for the best red for my skin. It didn’t go so well; my mom ended up telling me looked like I some cheap hooker; that was a blast to my ego. I decided to go with something not as vivacious.

My pick was Fiery Attitude (319N). The color is spot on with the description, a deep berry wine. It’s smooth and creamy but after a while I find my lips dry. I already suffer from extremely dry everything, you name it: lips, hair, skin..its difficult. I found it to be less so when added a bit of lip gloss to it (clear or a rose pink).

I loved it so much I decided to buy another shade, this time, a bit more playful. I snagged Midnight Rose (377N). Both of these are for nights out which is exactly what I use it for. I find that you need to prepare your face: primer, concealer, foundation, mascara, lip scrub, lip balm, etc. You need to make sure your face is the perfect canvas as well as your lips. If your lips are dried and cracked you will most definitely see it, especially with these colors.

‘Rouge In Love’ Midnight Rose & Fiery Attitude

Pros: Creamy formula, Pigmented hues, Long-lasting
Cons: Drying

These will be a staple in any ladies’ beauty collection, you just need to find which one is for you. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
