Hello my little spices! There are some exciting times brewing at Sartorial Spice as the weather begins to show signs of cooling down. I’ve finally gone self-hosted! So you can expect a lot more giveaways and maybe a guest blogger or two.
Today, I woke up and was surprised by how chilly it was outside. Fall is arriving and there is no stopping it! I’ve decided to make a series of Back to School Fashions complete with product sets and some of my favorite items out there. There will be items of every budget but I will of course try to hit below the $100 or $200 marks. I do know some ladies love to splurge on shoes though, so those will be the priciest items.
It never ceases to amaze me to see stripes nearly every season. I am a sucker for stripes. Every time I walk into a store, I find myself gravitating towards a mound of striped shirts. I am a moth to a light bulb. They go with pretty much anything and they really are what I consider, a basic.
I was never the type to really go out and party. I was also the type of person who would stay in on a Saturday night, turn on the tv or curl up on my bed with a good book. Now that I am growing older I find that I want to go out a little more, I want to grasp and cling onto any opportunity.
A couple of weeks ago I received an email from a man I had interviewed with for an internship position (which I accepted and then declined). They were inviting me to a “Great Gatsby” theme event that would showcase the jewelry of emerging jewelry designers while making their guests rock the roaring 20s look. I, of course, accepting excitedly. It was free and I was allowed to bring a guest along. I brought along my best friend, Susan, as I know she loves dressing in past fashion. I think it’s her hobby, really.
We have barely made it through July but I am already seeing the small tricklings of fall excitement. I love the warm and rich tones that we are being offered this fall. I would say my favorite is the hot pink called Vivacious and the deep blue called Mykonos Blue. The best fall color of all is Turbulence. Grey is such a great neutral and will go well mixing with a few of these colors or just on its own. I just love the colors as it really offers warmth and really does go well with the change of season and leaves. I was at the mall today and the moment I walked into J. Crew I was hit was the fall feeling. The fall collection was warm and offered glam with some gems on sweaters.
I have a love-hate relationship with July 4th. I love the energy, the patriotism, and the fireworks. I hate the traffic, the closed roads, traffic, and the fashion.
I am all for showing off the colors but sometimes I cringe when I see some people leave their house in red pants, an American flag pasted on a t-shirt, and a bunch of American flag accessories. I don’t mind if you wear a flag..as long as you do it in a subtle way.
Here are a few outfits I put together for a cute fourth of July!
There are so many ways to dress up and have a great July 4th! What are you going to do on the 4th of July? Do you have your outfit planned?
The best thing about this day? The food and the time spent with family! Try to make it the best you can…and if you don’t have anything planned then it’s a great day to just snuggle in bed and watch some great movie re-runs!
