Interview Outfit

So, yesterday I had two internship interviews..on opposite sides of NYC. I am not one who likes taking the subway so I WALKED across town and back, needless to say I can barely move today.

I had fashion internship interviews but I like dressing up opposed to risking it and dressing in some jeans and booties or some cute shirt. I went with an all black ensemble, natural makeup, and minimum jewelry except for my statement necklace. I wish I could have taken a better photo but I need to have someone do them for me. Hopefully soon!

Again, I apologize for the terrible photo and I will try to see if I can get someone to be my photographer.

Back to the Daily Grind

I once find myself in frigid, less than desirable temperatures. I have returned to the Northeast..and I did not miss it. I came back to Jersey when the sky decided to drop some snow and rain onto us.

I didn’t do anything overly exciting on vacation other than spend some much needed family time with my aunts, uncles, and grandmother. I tried to tan a little but it didn’t work,no matter how long I stayed out in the sunshine, my skin was too resilient. I did manage to go to a few thrift shops but only found a tan cardigan for $6. I begin school tomorrow once again and Wednesday I find myself with several internship interviews (Fingers crossed)!

Like I promised, I will do a giveaway by the end of this week or next. I am deciding what items I should do and I was wondering what you guys would like! Nothing too expensive but nothing too cheap either! For now, I will continue to roam the imaginary aisles of Sephora.com before I make my trudge there this weekend.

Black & White

One of my favorite spring trends this year is black and white. I love that we are using staple colors and not a seasonal color such as emerald or that specific tangerine color. It gives the wearer a polished look and there are a variety of ways you can change it up. What is the best thing about this trend is that you probably have black and white in your closet already, so no need to purchase more!

There are many ways to wear it and really, the sky is the limit! What do you think of this versatile and minimalist trend?

Breezy and Beautiful

Florida really is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. It’s been too cool to go to the beach unfortunately, but that isn’t stopping me from eating some wonderful food!

I went to a great little Spanish restaurant in Hialeah and had a delicious lunch of Salmon with caramelized onions, white rice, and a little bit of fries (Double starch, oops!) I will get back to my daily grind once I head back home on Monday.

I also leave you with some pretty flowers! It must be a sight for sore eyes!

Mint Condition

With spring finally arriving, I have always found myself obsessing over the color mint. It’s such a beautiful hue of green/blue. It is a beautiful transition from all the darker hues we have in fall and winter.  You can pair it with a variety of colors such as pink, a darker blue, or white.

Mint Love
I never seem to tire of this color. It’s such a pretty shade and I find it looks great with gold and silver accessories. It’s very versatile and you can find the colors in any item from shoes to jeans to purses.

I hope to stock up on all things minty! Do you like mint? What you pair with it?

Sunday Lustin’

I am currently in Hialeah, which is not too far off from Miami, vacationing.  I relaxed a bit, enjoyed the warm weather, and made my way to the mall as I still had to get gifts.

We went to Dadeland mall which in my opinion is a pretty nice mall. I had to get some gifts for some family and made my way to GAP and Banana. I’ve been looking for the perfect, long-lasting purse, and I fell in love with a Rebecca Minkoff bag I spotted at Nordstrom.

It’s big, roomy, and leather.  I think you can think of a few different ones but this is the one I am vying after:

Rebecca Minkoff’s “Mac Daddy” in Black with gold hardware. It costs a whopping $350 but with the quality and the detailing, I think it is well worth it. It’s big and I love the signature flap with the clip in the front. I’m going to continue saving my money to get this beautiful bag. What bag do you think is worth dropping some serious cash on? Do you have this bag and what do you think of it?

Tonight I will try to put up another set or look. Enjoy your Sunday!

Beau Review: “Clean on Me” by Soap & Glory

photo(5)

If you’ve been looking for a great, new shower gel, you must try Soap & Glory’s “Clean on Me”. I purchased mine at Sephora for $16. I bought the 16.2 oz one, so it is about a dollar for each ounce. It is totally worth it.

A little goes a long way. I bought this back in January and you can see I nearly have all of it left. No, I am not dirty, I shower daily. My mother even uses it, so you can see that you do not need as much of the product to produce the luxurious lather you crave. The gel has a soft, gentle scent of florals and a hint of orange.

I have extremely dry skin and I have little bumps on my arms that I contribute to my sensitivity to fabrics and allergies. This gel smoothed and moisturized my skin while relieving some of the irritation. I use it every day and every time I shower. I was always a Dove girl but this product leaves a light scent once I get out of the shower and makes my skin silky smooth.

I cannot get enough of it and I will probably have it for up to the next 6 months or longer. It’s worth the price and if you are wanting to derail from your usual store-bought brand.

From what I’ve seen in this product, it makes me want to try out some other Soap & Glory products. I will try to see if I can buy a few and even do a Soap & Glory giveaway. Tell me what you think of that! I would love to hear more about their products so if you have used this or others, please comment below, whether it is positive or negative!

The Big Picture: Plus-Size Fashion

Source: http://clothing-x-change.com/

Source: http://clothing-x-change.com/

As a plus-size gal..it’s often difficult to find clothing that is both aesthetically beautiful and flattering. There isn’t much choice out in the market. I am not a size 20 or 22. I am a size 14, which is evidently the size that the average American woman is. Why is it so difficult to have clothing like this?

Fashion should not exclude any shape or body type. Every woman is different and it should not be a one-size fits all deal. It angers to me to no end when I see stick thin models and think to myself, “Really, this is the ideal of beauty we have today?” Skin and bones is not healthy and nor is a lot of fat but a woman has to have curves, we were made to have curves.

I don’t understand the infatuation with becoming a size 0 or 2. I have no intention of becoming a 0 or 2 but I would love to be a size 10 even an 8 is fine. I want to have my curves with less of the belly pudge. THAT is healthy to me but unfortunately with all the fast food and portion sizes we have today, we are tempted and succumb to them.

With the growing waistlines and body shapes we should have more fashion choices. I fall in the plus size category and while I fit in L or XL, I get aggravated with the many different sizings of brands. H&M warps their sizes to be smaller on the label than they actually are. Some jeans in Gap could be an 8 but in Express could be a 10, you don’t really end up with one size in your closet, but multiple.

I really hope that one of my classmates who want to be designers embrace that beauty comes in all sizes and develops a line that includes plus sized. It’s a largely ignored industry and in the end it could be very profitable. All I wish for is beautiful clothing for real women, is it that much to ask for?

If there are any designers out there..why not think on it? Make other fashionista’s such as myself really happy and develop some plus-size clothing!

And if you are a plus-size lady then I wholeheartedly recommend Asos CURVE or Torrid!
