Another Little Purchase

I bought this really cute notebook since I found out we would have to take notes by hand. No laptops or electronics. 🙁 It was a bit pricey at $7.99 but it is HUGE. I know I am probably going to use this whole thing though. You can find it at Target; there were also a whole lot of different ones.

Excuse my hair here. My bangs have grown out and they are less than cooperative, being all wavy and such. What can you do?

Charming Charlie Haul

Like I promised, I said I would do a haul. I decided to treat myself (but not go crazy either!) I went to a new store they opened by my house called Charming Charlie. Let me tell you, I could not contain my excitement the second I stepped into the store. It was an accessory overload. There were so many colors and they were all color-coordinated. There were purses, scarves, shirts, sweaters, dresses, belts, necklaces, earrings, and oh so much more.

I swooped in faster than my poor friend John could blink. I literally went around the store a good 3 times to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I grabbed 6 things, but two of them were gifts for my cousin Sherine (Love you girl!)

I love their tagline: Peace, Love, & Accessorize

The first item I grabbed was a very sheer, cream and white colored scarf. I love scarves, they are a great way to accessorize without trying too hard.  I liked this because while I have many scarves this one felt silky and would allow me to wear bold colors and add this to tone it down.

Modern Geo Scarf, $15

I then grabbed 2 of the Light Pink stud set. I love little studs and these was all baby pink. There are 6 pairs of earrings The first stud is a pink diamond stud, the second is the same stud with a gold ornate rim, the third small pink pearls, the fourth a shiny pink jewel with a gold outer, the fifth is covered in little pink dots, and the last is pink dangling earrings. Simple and cute.

Vintage Dolls Earrings, $10

The next item I grabbed was one that caught my eye in a sea of gold. It was a braided gold bracelet. I really love bracelets, especially since now the whole trend is to layer and stack them. I really like it because it has a magnetic back and doesn’t have the usual lobster clasp, which I feel is a pain to put on yourself.

Gold Bracelet, $12.97
The last two I purchased I thought was a steal. They are a green and “red” (it looks more of a plum to me) watch bracelet. I am a bit torn on which to keep for myself and which to give as the gift. Maybe you guys can help me! I originally bought the green one for myself but the plum looks amazing as well. They are perfect to stack, I layered it with 2 spike bracelets I was wearing and I knew I had to have it. They were actually half off the original price!
Green Watch, $9.99

Dark Red Watch, $9.99  That’s all!
I hope you all
Enjoyed my haul!

Work Now, Play Later!

As my luck would have it, I need to start reading my new textbook and take a quiz BEFORE my class even starts. I am in a highly good mood and might splurge today, I think I deserve it. I received my grades yesterday for the Fall 2012 semester and my GPA for the semester was a 3.6 (YAY!) which means I made the Dean’s list (Double yay!). I was very surprised that I did this well because of all the commitments I took on last semester. I had managed to finally get a part-time job, become Social Media Director of my school’s branch of Her Campus (check it out, ladies), land my first internship, and juggle school with (somewhat of) a social life.

I thought there might be some girls–or guys– interested in knowing what classes and assignments we get as a Fashion major. I do not go to FIT or a big city school despite living only 30 minutes away by bus. I go to a state university who happened to actually have a fashion major. I was ecstatic and I will give my recount on how I actually decided to become a fashion major.

I already took a Textiles class last semester. I was very excited–I always tend to be because I love to learn about new things. It was a horrid class, the teacher was a very sweet older woman who happened to be the head of the Fashion department but she was very dull in her lectures. Her tests were impossible if you did not read the book yourself and the labs were really a waste of time. I was pleased to see I had received a B+.

One of my classes next semester is Textile and Apparel Industry. I can’t say I am too excited about this class after skimming through the book but like always I keep an open mind when it comes to courses.

Today, I plan to read the chapter and take the quiz then I will go out with a good friend of mine, John for a little retail therapy. I might do a haul post if I do buy a lot or find something that’s of incredibly good value. Tell then, everyone!

Since some people may stumble upon my new blog, it would only be right for there to be an introduction to be made.

I am a 20 year old Fashion student currently residing in the largely misinterpreted state of New Jersey. I am the offspring of Nicaraguan and Syrian/Kurdish parents. I am a soft spot for cute little babies and cannot live without my laptop.

I don’t have a specific style but I am particularly fond of stripes, gold, studs, and collars (obsessed–honestly). I am a plus-sized gal struggling to love myself for who I am (So many clothes I would die to wear, but cannot). I am striving for a career in Fashion PR/Social Media. I am currently interning at a wonderful start-up company in New York City’s Garment District called Quincy.

I am surrounded by lovely people at my internship and my job (Sales Associate, of course!). I really do hope that my personality and love for clothing, beauty, and accessories comes through my writing and I really would love to take you all on my journey whether it be my blog posts, successes, failures, and other things!

Tomorrow is a new day, a new outfit. Maybe an OOTD! Till tomorrow everyone!
