As humans, I find we are never really happy with what we have. If you have straight hair, you want curly hair. If you have straight hair, you want curly hair. If you are flat-chested, you want more and vice versa. Why are we always striving to change ourselves? Why are we never content? I stopped and thought of this while I was sitting on the hard folding chair as my mother was half through the painstaking, 8-hour process of taming my frizzy and curly hair.
Hello Spices! My Ipsy came fairly early this month and was quite a surprise. I didn’t know what I was receiving because I had not checked my Glam Room so it was left a surprise. This bag isn’t one of my favorites but I always appreciate the things I get.
Let’s get to it!
Hello Spices! Sorry I have been a bit MIA, the new school year is back in session and I am still trying to get used to having to wake up at a relatively normal time. Getting into the swing of things, I noticed that my wallet has gotten substantially smaller since the beginning of summer. It was high time I got into the groove of finding some deals whether it was specials, clearance racks, coupons, or promos. I just needed anything that would help me save a nickel or a dime. This is where StudentRate comes in.
It’s that time of the month, spices! My Ipsy arrived about a week ago and I’ve been pushing back this post for quite a while but I know there are a lot of curious people out there who want to know what some people got versus others, so here it goes!
Hello everyone! This past week and prior week is a little busy but I’ve decided to relax a little and finally get to that Ipsy review! Here it is! Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I am in no way sponsoring Sephora, Too Faced, Godiva, or Baublebar. I am simply recounting the event for your enjoyment.
Hello Spice Girls & Guys! It’s been a busy and hectic week for me as I’ve been interning, running around the city in 97+ degree weather and planning outfits for events left and right. I received an email from Sephora as all VIBs (Very Important Beauty Insiders) do and it was for an event happening on July 18th. I rushed to the phone and reserved my spot for my cousin and I.
The weather yesterday was brutal with real feel temperatures of 100+. So needless to say, I am looking less than cute with sweat pouring down my face and my chunky arms out for the world to see. It’s ok though, I survived.
Hello Spice Girls & Guys,
I decided over the weekend to finally add some color to my nails. I had spent a few weeks going commando on my nails as they were growing brittle and the layers were peeling off. I was pleased to see they were super long and super strong after allowing them to breathe.
It’s Ipsy time Spice Girls and Guys! Let’s see what I got this month!
I was hoping I would get some good items and I have to say, I liked most of the items in my bag. I especially loved the blush. I don’t regularly buy myself some so this was a bonus for me.
Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter: I was happy to get this. I put it under my eyebrow arch and above when I contour my face. It glides on and is very useful. What I find troublesome about this item is the size of it. It’s rare to find a sharpener that will fit such a size, even if the do sell the bigger ones, they usually don’t fit. Once I get this to the bottom, I won’t be able to sharpen it. I won’t be getting much uses out of this, even if I wanted to.
NYX Blush in Desert Rose: I was really happy to see this blush in my bag. The color is a beautiful rose pink and it goes great with my skin tone. They really did manage to match the color to my skin tone, I’ve heard a lot of people complaining that many of their items do not go with their skin tone. I have not had that problem yet. It’s very pigmented and smoothed on easily. I will be sure to get use out of this. I’ve never used NYX so this sample allowed me to find an item that I love.
Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner in Iron: I have an obsession with eyeliners, even more than should be normal. When I saw this in my bag I nearly did a back flip. I’ve tried gel eyeliner and it’s been disaster. I love how the brush is part of the packaging. It’s convenient and it keeps it clean and right where it should be. I swatched it on my hand so you can see how the color looks like. I took a shower and there was still some liner on my hand. It did not budge at all! That’s great if you really want long-lasting eyeliner. The brush is easy to use. I hope to practice a little more with this gem.
J Cat Sparkling Cream Palette Body Glitter in Volta: The moment I saw the palette, I immediately thought it was eyeshadow but upon further investigation, I found out it was body glitter. What..? I know..Body glitter. I didn’t like it because it’s too glittery for my tastes and who wears body glitter? I’m 20..way too old to be painting my body with shimmery shadows. I might pass this over to my younger cousins. If not, I will probably mix it with glue to decorate my cap with when I graduate university. Not one of my favorites. I do like the colors though.
Starlook lipliner in Bare: Another item that I wasn’t crazy about. I rarely wear lipstick and if I do, it would be nothing in this color. I passed this over to my mother who was excited. She has tons of lipsticks in a hue similar to this so I know she will get get use out of this. I did like how easily it was to apply with virtually no tugging so I know it will be something she is going to use it like crazy!
Overall, I did like the glam bag. I wasn’t too crazy with the bag itself, it’s a bit too wild for my taste but I could probably use it to store some old jewelry. I liked 3/5 of the items so I was pretty happy! I can’t wait to see what next month has in store! Hopefully the bag has a nautical theme!
What did you think of this Ipsy bag? I would love to hear what you got! I know a lot of people were complaining about the shimmer palette, but the whole point is to try something new. You may not have liked what you got but you could always trade or re purpose it! I was even planning to take the lip liner and use it as an eyeliner! There are always ways to use things, so I don’t really like to complain about it. They put a lot of thought into making these bags and it’s better to think out of the box for other ways to use your items!
