A Little Spring in Your Step

1926718_10152061495258224_480862070_nI’m really getting tired of this weather between the snow, high winds, and temperatures that are now dipping under 10 degrees–not cool!  What better way to relax on a frigid weekend then staying home and doing a DIY!  This project was part of my project for my full-time internship.  I was working on the Waverly brand.  Waverly has many beautiful fabrics and I had the opportunity to pick from many fabrics and use them to my liking.

What did I Waverize? A pair of heels!

Badgley Mischka Fall 2014

photo(66)Every fashionista dreams of heading to the Big Apple in September or February when FashionWeek is in full swing.  But Fashion Week isn’t just a show of style, it’s a crucial time for buyers of big companies like Bloomingdale’s and Bergdorf Goodman to get a peek of the new collection so they could get it into stores when it is actually Fall 2014.  It’s a business transaction in sorts but it has since become more than that.  Backstage, I saw how everything and everyone.  It was really amazing to be standing only inches away from Mark Badgley and James Mischka.  I was surprised how organized it was and how calm it all was. There was no screaming or running around, no one was panicking. It was very calm except for the hordes of accepted press squished into the tent, trying to get shots of the designers and a few celebrities that were hanging out.

The Professional Intern

As you could tell, I am doing a rather poor job of following through on posting more but I can guarantee I have a good reason!  This semester, I decided to intern full-time for school credit.  It is required for my major to actually graduate and since I cannot afford to pay tuition to do it as a summer class, I took my semester off to pursue a great internship.  I was lucky enough to land my internship at ICONIX Brand Group and become their Public Relations intern. Oxblood Love

photo(55)It took everything in me not to snatch this out of the gift wrap and use it myself.  I purchased this beautiful genuine leather wallet for my mothers’ big 5-0 milestone.  I had originally set my sights on the black one but this one happened to match my nails perfectly as a sales associate pointed out as I held it.  This color reminded me of the big fall color of last year: oxblood.  I don’t know exactly what color this is but it comes very close to it.  Read More →

The Beginning of the End…of Internships?

Via Sprudge.com

Via Sprudge.com

Internships are a gateway to a career.  In this day and age, unfortunately, most are unpaid which leads to heated debates and lawsuits being flung left and right like a frisbee.  While it would be nice to get paid for the work that I do as an intern, all I really care about is being treated right and gaining experience from it all.  I’ve been blessed that I’ve never been taken advantage of (knock on wood) and my bosses are the sweetest in the world. Read Your Books and Wear Them Too

IMG_0341I can’t go anywhere without a good book stowed in my bag.  At times, I wish I could show my appreciation of a good book by showing the world.  I didn’t think there would be a way until I found Tori’s store on Etsy.  I stared in awe at her original works of art based on literary novels such as Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre.

Getting Ready for Baby

BabyPicI’m like a cat in a way..I don’t like surprises.  I was taken by surprise when my father announced my cousin was going to stay with us.  The kicker? She’s 9 months pregnant..seriously..she is going to pop any day now! Being an only child, I could admit that I felt a bit threatened at the prospect of having a family member living with us for a few months while the baby comes.

I was never big on children especially in my early teens.  I would make faces and stick my nose in the air, ignoring them.  It all changed when a family friend asked my mother to babysit her son.
