My little heart hurts that I’ve pushed aside my blog postings. Between the dreadful winter and the lack of any time for myself has really made me neglect what I’ve already established and worked so hard for. As graduation grows nearer and my spring break quickly escapes my grasp, I realize that it’s time for me to buckle down on myself and commit more to my wonderful blog!
My days have been filled with group projects, snow days, colds, internships, and work. This blog serves as a great way to release my stress and have something to be immensely be proud of. That being said, I’ve been buying a LOT of purses so I will be sure to start styling and taking pics so look out for those style posts I miss doing so much!
Since I am stuck in Jersey/New York, I would love to hear from my lovely readers–What have you all been doing for spring break or planning to do!? I am in desperate need of Vitamin Sea!
My journey as an Ann Taylor intern has come to an end. It had gone too fast but like it is always said, all good things must come to an end. This internship has reinforced my notion of what career I truly want to go into. I know for a fact I want to go into social media marketing; I mean, how is that not fun? Read More →
For the past 5 months, I have been interning at ICONIX Brand Group. I can say that it has been the best experiences of my life. I’ve learned so much and I honestly didn’t think I was going to be so sad to go. At my time there, I was the Public Relations/Marketing/Social Media intern. Never have I felt so useful or learned so much.
I’m so upset that my blog is getting put on the back burner but working full-time really does take most of the time off your hands. I can’t believe that I am pretty much half way done with my internship at ICONIX Brand Group. I’ve fallen into the groove of things and it saddens me to think that all the amazing people and things I have been doing will have to come to an end. Read More →
Every fashionista dreams of heading to the Big Apple in September or February when FashionWeek is in full swing. But Fashion Week isn’t just a show of style, it’s a crucial time for buyers of big companies like Bloomingdale’s and Bergdorf Goodman to get a peek of the new collection so they could get it into stores when it is actually Fall 2014. It’s a business transaction in sorts but it has since become more than that. Backstage, I saw how everything and everyone. It was really amazing to be standing only inches away from Mark Badgley and James Mischka. I was surprised how organized it was and how calm it all was. There was no screaming or running around, no one was panicking. It was very calm except for the hordes of accepted press squished into the tent, trying to get shots of the designers and a few celebrities that were hanging out.
As you could tell, I am doing a rather poor job of following through on posting more but I can guarantee I have a good reason! This semester, I decided to intern full-time for school credit. It is required for my major to actually graduate and since I cannot afford to pay tuition to do it as a summer class, I took my semester off to pursue a great internship. I was lucky enough to land my internship at ICONIX Brand Group and become their Public Relations intern. Read More →
Hello Spice Girls and Guys!
I’ve decided to get my first business cards since I am going to the Her Campus National Conference coming in July. I went last year and I found it was a great place to network!
I thought I would be even more professional since I do have a good resume now. It couldn’t hurt to spread the word about my blog or myself! I bought 2 different types. The top is from www.vistaprint.com and the one below is from www.zazzle.com. I was going to send the ones from zazzle back just because I already have a lot. I don’t know if I need that many cards but I just like how they look.
What do you think? How do you give business cards out? Do you have some or have thought of getting some?
Hello Spice Girls & Guys! I thought it would be nice to give an update on how everything is going!
As I’ve said numerous times, I intern in New York City. The office is full of kind, hard-working people, and it honestly feels like a family the moment you step in. My supervisor is kind, understanding, and gives me work that I find both challenging and enjoyable. I don’t have coffee-run duties or a Devil Wears Prada deal going on. I have my own desk, my own computer, and even my own email and ID!
They added a new intern and now there is two of us in the office. It’s nice! It’s like a little girl corner. I had been doing the social media and updating articles but now I’ve been given more PR tasks, which I am honestly intimidated by. I love it so far though, I love all the researching and the taking risks I’ve done. I’m eternally grateful to be given such tasks and have such a great experience so far.
In the midst of all of this, I was let go/ quit at my retail job. I loved working there but I also felt guilty because I could not give them 100%. My priorities were in school and my internships. I will not name the company, but I think you will be able to find out which one it is (rhymes with nap). I just want to write about it to get it off of my chest as it’s been bugging me.
I had been walking out of my internship when I got a call from one of the managers who stated that the head manager wanted to speak to me. At this point, my stomach had flipped up into my throat, I was getting a bad feeling. The main manager came onto the phone, asked me how I was, being all sweet and then sweetly told me that they couldn’t do my schedule anymore and I would have to hand in my two weeks.
Now, I have to start the job hunt all over again. It’s tiring and difficult as a college student with a terrible schedule. I have classes Monday, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
I still find myself running around and this summer break isn’t just a break anymore. I think I’m finally growing up..and fast.
