A Little Time Out

Sometimes the best way to clear your mind is to get away. The best place I could think of is with my family out in Florida so I booked a ticket and jetted over. As the years have passed, I’ve gotten more and more aware of how time truly flies and to appreciate your family and those you love.

Spring…Can Never Catch a…Break

My little heart hurts that I’ve pushed aside my blog postings. Between the dreadful winter and the lack of any time for myself has really made me neglect what I’ve already established and worked so hard for. As graduation grows nearer and my spring break quickly escapes my grasp, I realize that it’s time for me to buckle down on myself and commit more to my wonderful blog!

My days have been filled with group projects, snow days, colds, internships, and work. This blog serves as a great way to release my stress and have something to be immensely be proud of.  That being said, I’ve been buying a LOT of purses so I will be sure to start styling and taking pics so look out for those style posts I miss doing so much!

Since I am stuck in Jersey/New York, I would love to hear from my lovely readers–What have you all been doing for spring break or planning to do!? I am in desperate need of Vitamin Sea!

Breezy and Beautiful

Florida really is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. It’s been too cool to go to the beach unfortunately, but that isn’t stopping me from eating some wonderful food!

I went to a great little Spanish restaurant in Hialeah and had a delicious lunch of Salmon with caramelized onions, white rice, and a little bit of fries (Double starch, oops!) I will get back to my daily grind once I head back home on Monday.

I also leave you with some pretty flowers! It must be a sight for sore eyes!

Spring Break Essentials

Spring Break Essentials

Winter is still hanging out with no intention to leave without throwing more unexpected snow or cold wind on us. If you are a college student in the North-East or have semesters then you know spring break is around the corner! We all struggle to stuff our closet into our teeny-weeny suitcase, and sadly, you can’t take it all.

As a girl whose had the opportunity to go to Florida every year around Christmas and summertime due to family living there, I can help offer some advice on traveling essentials! Those who have booked their tickets are most likely going to tropical places such as Florida, Cancun, Mexico, Bahamas, etc.

Here is the what you need in your suitcase:

  • Basic shirts (white and black): It’s easier to have basics as you can pair them with anything and dress them up or down. Pair them with a great floral denim or short-shorts and you have a cute, comfortable outfit
  • Sweater/Hoodie: The weather tends to get chilly and unexpected at times, as well when the sun drops and the moon appears. The best thing you can bring with you is a zip fleece hoodie to keep you warm.
  • Umbrella: Tropical areas are susceptible to lots of rain. Try to buy the mini ones that you can stash away in luggage or a purse.
  • 3 Great pairs of shoes: 1 pair of great heels/wedges, 1 pair of flip flops/sandals, and 1 pair of comfortable shoes. Spring break means parties whether it is on the beach or in a club. While many would cringe at the thought of wearing sneakers, it’s not always partying. You want to walk and actually enjoy what the area has to offer. You could also bring some cute flats or loafers.
  • Shorts: Is there really a need to explain? They could be short-shorts (denim or not), cotton, solid, prints, Bermudas, linen, etc.
  • Jeans: I’m a jean’s girl so jeans are what I most likely live in. Make sure that they are comfortable and not too restrictive as sometimes the heat can make you bloat a little.
  • Razors: Do I need to explain?
  • Sunscreen and cosmetics: Take sunscreen. Yes, everyone wants that tan..but don’t burn yourself to a crisp as it could lead to skin cancer. Take a few of your favorite cosmetics but make sure it is in your checked baggage as they only allow travel sized liquids in your carry-on.
  • A Dress: Any dress of your choosing, one you could wear casually or dress up. Don’t go crazy and take 3 or more. 1 or 2 is fine.
  • Camera and chargers: Take a camera (disposable is always good) or any camera you have along with its chargers and chargers for your phone.
  • First Aid and Feminine products: You never know when you might have an accident or mother nature will decide to drop her gift. Be prepared! Don’t forget the deodorant either!
  • A Hat: Keep cool and believe it or not you can actually burn your scalp! Bring along your favorite cap or sun hat. It will make a cute addition to an outfit as well!
  • Mosquito Repellent: Depending where you are, chances are you will cross paths with this pesky pest. Ward them away with some repellent or make your own!
  • Belts and Accessories: I usually bring a small cosmetic bag with my jewelry (fashion jewelry). It can change an outfit from casual to dressy in a snap and a belt is great to cinch your dress.
  • Bathing suit: Bring your best bathing suit or 2 if you know you’ll be spending a lot of time in it. Bikini, one-piece, etc. it’s all your choice. Bring more than 1 if you don’t want to have to wash it the day before.
  • Sunglasses: Squinting brings on crows feet and is plain annoying. Put on some smoking sunglasses and relax!
  • Towels: Hotels will supply some towels to shower in but I like to bring along my big beach towel to lie on.
  • Tote Bag: To carry all your beach essentials
  • Book or Nook: We all love reading a good book on vacation!
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste: Minty-fresh breath..really is the best (I just rhymed. Oy Vey.)
  • Extra Cash: In the world of credit cards..people tend to forget that paper money exists. Bring cash. You don’t want to be left with nothing.
  • I.D or Passport: This should be a given.
  • Tank Tops: Any color. It’s a basic!
  • Purse: Any purse you love!

I know this is a long list but it really is the essentials! You can always add whatever you feel fit but for a great vacation don’t forget these things. Hotels usually supply those mini shampoos and body gel but if you don’t want to use those, then bring your own, like I usually do. Vacations are fun but nothing is less than enjoyable when you realize you forgot your camera or some sunblock.

I hope my list helped and if you have anything you would recommend, do not hesitate to comment below and add to the list!
